🎓 ✍️ Today opens the NCAA signing period for D1 & D2 sports with the exception of football. Today recruits can sign their Financial Aid agreements to make their commitments and scholarships official.

With the Portal window opening for Spring sports in a few weeks, it’s important to understand what it is.

In short, the NCAA Transfer Portal is the database where student-athletes officially enter their name to explore new collegiate opportunities. Once an athlete enters, coaches are allowed to contact them, and the athlete can consider transferring to another program. Entering the portal doesn’t guarantee a scholarship or a spot, but it does open the door to fresh recruiting conversations and a new potential fit. Always understand the timelines, the rules, and the risks before making the move.

📚 NCAA Core Courses!

If you are thinking about competing at the NCAA level, make sure that the classes you are taking in high school are NCAA-approved core courses - not all classes count toward eligibility. Your “Core GPA” will be calculated based on these 16 courses.

Don’t wait until it’s too late to find out that your classes don’t count. Stay on track early and keep your dreams alive.

🎯 If your goal is to compete in the NCAA, you will need an NCAA Eligibility Center Account.

The NCAA Eligibility Center certifies athletic eligibility for student-athletes that want to compete in the NCAA by evaluating their academics and amateur status.

Why it matters

📚 Academics: it confirms that your high-school courses and grades meet NCAA standards.
💰 Amateurism: it verifies that you haven’t lost your eligibility by playing professionally or accepting certain payments.
🏆 Recruiting: Coaches can’t officially bring you onboard until your status is cleared.

🎓 Set up your account early, ideally by grade 10 or 11.

🚨 We are thrilled to welcome Class of ‘26 Sprinter Jorai Oppong-Nketiah to the ESE family!

Competing for the Ottawa Lions Track & Field Club, Jorai is the current Canadian U20 Champion in both the 100m & 200m as well as the 🇨🇦 record holder in the U18 100m.

We look forward to helping Jorai find a school where she can compete at a high level while studying Criminology or Forensic Psycholgy.

🚨 We welcome Class of ‘26 Goalkeeper Yilin Jia to the ESE family. ⚽️

Yilin is the starting goalie for the Bonivital SC as well as his high school team at St John’s Ravenscourt. For the last 4 years, Yilin has also been part of the Manitoba Provincial Ultimate Frisbee Team.

We look forward to seeing Yilin play Keeper at the next level while studying business.
